A Recent Bit About Charlotte and Hazel

They look pretty sweet, don't they?

A couple of Saturdays back Fred took the girls to go see, The Good Dinosaur. They of course loved it. And shortly after their arrival home I got a play-by-play of the whole movie; from Fred :).  A few hours later we had the missionaries over for dinner. The girls were of course eager to share their favorite parts of the movie they had just seen.

WARNING - if you have not seen The Good Dinosaur and you don't like predictable plotline points being revealed prior to your view of said plot, stop reading now.

Charlotte then proceeded to tell the missionaries that her favorite part was when the boy caught a beetle and ripped off its head for his dinosaur friend. Then she busted up laughing. Hazel, not to be outdone then wanted to share her favorite part. "I liked it when the dad died, then came to life again and then died and didn't come back to life anymore. HAHAHAHA!"

"Oh my goodness, girls," I said quickly. Then to the missionaries - "They don't always laugh this hard about such morbid things."

"Uhhh, yes they do." Says Fred without missing a beat.

Here is a more realistic, or at least more common depiction of the two. Hazel is playing the part of an evil woman with long red nails, and Charlotte...I'm not sure.

Our copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas has a preview of The Wizard of Oz and for some reason this year Charlotte became very interested in it. Following a nature discussion and a few youtube videos of tornadoes with their dad, Charlotte convinced the family it was time to watch the green wizard movie. Hazel handled it pretty well as long as she was sitting close to either Fred or me and Charlotte loved it so much she couldn't keep from asking questions every 30 seconds (literally) about what was happening and why.

Guess who was fighting in our house the next day over being the good pink witch. No one. How about Dorthy? Nobody. Toto? Nuh-uh. The Scarecrow, Tin Man, or Lion? Not a single argument about that. Both Hazel and Charlotte demanded they were the evil witch with the green face. Go figure. I finally had to tell them the wicked witch of the East had a green face before she was squished by the house, so they could both be evil green witches.

Now, just to paint a fair picture they do both have a girly side as well. Charlotte just lets hers show a little more often. Here is a typical picture of their book choices at the library.

I love these kiddos. So glad they're mine!
