Quick Belated Birthday Post

I never wrote about Charlotte's birthday and a lot of people have asked, so here is a little recap. She turned 1 on the 27th of October and it was actually a miserable day for her. She didn't sleep well the night before and she didn't take good naps so she was cranky all day. She got her finger pinched and it bled a little, and I'm afraid Fred and I singing Happy Birthday to her in the morning only convinced her more that her parents are strange. However, once Fred was finished with his school stuff, he met us back at home and we took Charlotte to Petsmart because she LOVES animals. She enjoyed looking at the dogs people brought into the store and also the hamsters and fish. She wasn't as excited about the birds or reptiles though.
Then we went to Giant for some food and let Charlotte pick out a balloon. As you can see from the following picture, Charlotte likes flashy things. She also chose her outfit for the day (the pink leopard onesie). After dinner, she opened her gifts (thanks so much again to everyone that sent gifts and well wishes to her), and then we introduced her to cake and ice cream. Of course, that was her favorite part. And then we put our tired, full, and grumpy girl to bed - after a bath, which she also loved. The pictures aren't great but I can't get the others to load so these will have to do.
Other updates on Charlotte -
Her one-year stats are as follows:
Height - 21%
Weight - 2%
Head - 92%
Charlotte took her first steps just before her first birthday but until yesterday would only walk to me (or Fred when he was here) without help. Now she is walking around everywhere by herself and I'm realizing how much more vigilant I will need to be. She still doesn't crawl and somehow, she can only figure out how to sit herself up and stand while in bed, otherwise she "requires" help to do that too.
This week she also started calling me mama which melts my heart. Her only other word is hi, which she says mostly to her stuffed animals when she wakes up in the morning or after a nap. She loves to say hi and give lots of hugs and kisses.
She has 4 teeth on top, her two middle bottom teeth, and two bottom molars. I sure hope the teeth come in between them. She is a really good eater with the exception of green beans.
We love our little girl.
