A Day Out

Last Friday we had the day off so we jumped on the bus from base to Camp Humphreys 30 min to the south. Just like going to Church, we had plenty of time to prepare but somehow it was not enough and we ended up speed walking to the bus stop (1.3 miles so needless to say we were sweating bullets), and got there just in time to buy tickets and jump on the bus. Once on base, we realized it was another 30 min walk to get to our destination, Splish and Splash. We met a lady in the Army BX (like a target for those who are not familiar with the military) who gave us directions then magically reappeared when we were finishing up lunch and she offered us a ride over to the splash pad. Super kind and very much appreciated.

Here are some pictures of the day. We had a blast and hope to go back often next summer once we have a car to get the kids back and forth a little easier.

Here we are at Friendship Park which is part of the International Community Center in our neighborhood (5 min walk). I think the only thing international about it is the intent as when I showed up people just stared at us like "what are the Americans doing here?" - not in a bad way, just got the impression we were the first to venture out there in a long while.

We live in Pyeongtaek city which back in the day was actually Songtan but the two merged several years ago.

Charlotte was kind of confused as to why the door to the boiler room was locked. When I explained there was not actually an engine there, I got the lack-of-eye-contact-silence that she gives when I think she is memorizing what you are saying so she can think of another question... but it never came. An odd moment which is why I remember it.

Charlotte modeling her impeccable sense of fashion which the rest of us don't quite get, but we appreciate it all the same. Great combination of colors Charlotte! I hear that perhaps she takes after Sarra Robinson. Feel free to comment :)

Top of the park. There are lots of little stations around where you can do dips, odd twisty exercises, sit-ups, and other exercises. Great place to end a run so you can add some lightweight exercises while you cool down from the run.

On to the bus and having fun. Both girls did great.

Hazel loved not being in her car seat. She did struggle with keeping her seat belt on but overall did very well.

Zachary was a champ! Smiled and slept the whole way. No, he did not have pink eye. That is just the lighting from the bus shades.

And here are some fun pics from the splash pad. The girls had a grand time.

Jari was good to hang with Zachary for a long while. When he needed a break from the heat I took him inside where I watch one of the GOP debates. Jari reported that she had a really fun time with the girls.

A little too much fun for Hazel.

The best part of the park for our girls. It is a playground with slides and fountains all sitting in a 1-foot deep pool. SO much fun for all.
