Market

We have posted before about the local Korean markets. The closest one to us is open each day ending in a 4 or 9. As today was the 14th we decided to check it out. Durning the winter the selection of veggies was understandably not great. But now with warmer weather and notably lower prices of produce at small produce stands near Charlotte's school we thought we would head out again.

Here is how we came out. Large bag of apples for 5000 Won, 10 Navel Oranges for 5000 Won. 5 peppers for 4000 Won, about a pound of strawwberries for 2000 Won and a huge bag of lettus for 2000 Won. Oh, and a bag of assorted Korean candy for 4000 Won. rate is ~1150 Won to the dollar. So I think we did OK!

Hazel was moaning about lunch on the way home so we made a stop at the Bulgogi House where Jari and Hazel shared some Bibimbap and I had some fried dumplings.  I will say kimchi has really grown on me. Starting in the lower left and going clockwise the center dishes are: some sort of eggs, sprouts, chard? with sesame oil, traditional cabage kimchi, hiding behind the glass is dried fish or squid with red peper paste, and finally cucumber with red pepper paste. All really good.

Of course Hazel decided she was not interested in the meal until we were ready to go then she went to town. This was the first time Jari had eaten it cold. Hint: drizzle sesame oil on it and BOOM! Yummy! Casual quote from Hazel: "Yeah, I just really love Korean food. I'm good at eating bibimbap."

Zachary was just there to cause problems. He ate a few bites.

Not sure how, but she made it home awake. I think she was holding out for the candy.

Fun morning out.
