Pumpkin Duck

We failed to take photos at Thanksgiving this year which was spent with some friends from the branch Heidi and Jarom Ricks and their kids. They invited us over and we brought a turkey and some rolls. It was a fun evening though I had worked the night before so I was a little sleepy. Our kids had fun playing with their kids and we had a good evening chatting and enjoying the afternoon and evening together.

The next night we finally made it on a double date with the Ricks to the Pumpkin Duck restaurant while our kids once again played together.

Here are Jarom and Heidi.

It was really delicious food. A portion of smoked duck is placed inside a pumpkin which is again roasted in a clay pot and then served with lots of kimchi. The duck tasted more of ham oddly enough. A random fact I learned last night is that the red pepper which seems to be a part of so much Korean food is not native of Korea. It was brought by the Portuguese in the 1600s. So before the Portuguese, the food was quite bland... or at least less spicey.
