K9 Demo

A few months back I started to Home Teach a young man by the name of Ryan Wilson. He is a native of North Las Vegas so being that we just came from there we were able to chat about a few of things in NLV. He is a Military K9 Handler. He offered to give the kids a demo so on one of the last semi warm days we had this season we went out to where he works to see the dogs in action.

Ryan enlisted the help of a friend and her dog for the training. There are 2 types of working dogs of which I don't remember the names but one type is more lean, fast and aggressive. The other is not quite so fast but tend to garner a little more intellect. Her dog was the fast aggressive type, Ryan's the intellect.

Here is Ryan in the dog bite suit read to run away.

Waiting for the command...

Still waiting...

... and right on command he was off.

Dangling on Ryan's arm.

Coming the other way.

Petty strong jaws. I have seen a few accidental bites in the ER and I can say it is not only the puncture wound they leave but they can really bruise people up.

Ryan's dog has been trained to do other things but over the past 6 months he has been working to get him more aggressive and ready to do regular things. He still loves to play though as pictured here.

And still good at biting.

Charlotte and the kids thought it was neat.
