Sunday Walks

Most days here are a mix of clouds, rain, fog with cool to cold temperatures. However, on occasion, the sun breaks through and Zemmer, Germany is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. Gratefully, several of these sunny days have happened on Sunday which provides for time to go on family walks after church. Here are some views:

Apples are now growing all over the place. I never see anyone attending to them so I am not sure if anyone actually picks these. They are found mostly along roads or walking paths and none of the trees has been thinned so the trees seem overloaded with smaller than usual apples - none of which looks like a well-formed apple. They are all odd-shaped which makes it fun.

The local area is home to the Eifel Nordic Walking Trails with miles and miles of dirt paths and roads for people to wander. I see people with large backpacks all the time trekking through. I often wonder where they started and where they are going. I guess we will never know.

When the sun shines you simply have to soak it up and enjoy it.

We found these beautiful horses along the way and the kids (mostly me) wanted to feed them some apples. The horses seemed quite grateful.

We only gave them about 3-4 very small apples each.

Oh, wait, "Please Don't Feed" sign. Oops.

One of the signs around town gives direction towards various trails.

The Germans here take very good care of their yards. There are many beautiful flowers, yards, and even walls and farmhouses as strange as that sounds.

Hard to not feel happy when you can stop and look at these dahlias.

I will have to remember this photo when winter comes.
