Hiking Echternach near Luxemburg

Before the cold weather set in during the fall of 2019, we decided to go for a hike as a family not far from our home on the border of Luxemburg just outside the town of Echternach.

The kids usually enjoy hiking

The scenery was amazingly beautiful

There was plenty of elevation gain which would wear the kids out.

In the middle of this nice forested hike there were some lovely rock formations that were really fun to look at --

-- and climb

We did a little exploring when the path split. One thing about hiking with kids is that I have learned to dream big and then anticipate they will fizzle out and you will need to cut the hike short. Also, 1 mile is reasonable, but on a good day, you can make 3-4 miles with the kids.

We found some small caves to explore

A view of the Echtenernach Cathedral and city

We enjoy doing 360-degree photos where the kids move and get in the photo several times

The drama of the hike

Toadstools!

After the long hike, we found a small Turkish fast food restaurant where the kids were able to enjoy one of their favorite (and rare) treats: Coca Cola.
