Von Trapped in Austria (for 15 minutes)

We have had a few odd moments traveling with our family. Like the time when Korea wouldn't let us leave because Camille did not have a SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) stamp in her passport even though the SOFA office said she didn't need one as she had been born there. Or when the Koreans wanted to see our official passports when taking leisure travel and then wanting to see leisure passports the next time (make up your minds!)

While on our way to Egypt and passing through Austria we used 3 renewed passports for the oldest 3 and the man checking passports didn't want to let us through because he wanted to see a prior stamp showing we had been in the EU for less than 90 days. This is not applicable given my current job but he didn't know that. Gratefully we made it work after some explanations and sharing of extra documents.

In the meantime, the kids were panicked we were stuck and wouldn't make it to Egypt. Hazel cried. Charlotte was worried. Camille and Zach just found something new to fight about (status quo).

Our kids were happy to make it to our plane but for a minute there I thought we were going to need to bust a Captain Von Trap and hike the Alps to get out of the country.

I am grateful the man made a call to his supervisor and we made it through.
